Cool Tings!

Hey Gals and Guys,

As some of you know I’ve had a sick family member.. It’s cancer so it sux. Also I have not released a course in about 2 months. Luckily I’m filthy rich from the first lot of courses and only wear undies made from silk and sewn together by virgins.

Anyways the reason for this post is to share some links to some cool Tings (Things) I’ve been looking at today.

www.datejs.com - You write dates like next friday and it understands.

www.merbivore.com - Another ruby MVC framework.. looks promising and I actually think I’ll have a play with it tonight. They have a book that is being created by the community.

http://ajaxian.com/ar../aja..pe - I’m a fan of Prototype and never code just straight Js anymore. Super Sam the creator has a nice interview over at Ajaxian that is worth a look.. thanks Sam :)

http://github.com - It’s a Social Network Version Control site using Git. Subversion is so last month and if you like subversion your ugly and stupid at least that’s what Linus Torvalds says! his so clever and yes his solution to version control is going to be used in future lessons.

Anyways this is what I looked at today please share what you looked at today! I would love to hear about it.

See you guys on the forum :)

    Hey Leigh!

Thanks for the update, I’m sorry about your family member, it must be difficult. You know, I read an incredible self help book about the mind & its influence on the body a few months ago, its called “Dianetics”, its truly incredible and has been known to produce miracles if the person works hard at it, check it out:

Nice links! I will check them out when I get home. Note that the strtodate() function is really good at understanding dates as well. I’m sure I could do an AJAX replica of datejs.com.

I hope everything is going okay for you, and I’m glad to hear that you are “filthy rich” lol!

    Hey Scrumptious,

Thanks for the link to the book, It must be a very good book :)

    Hey Trevor,

I would roll with the javascript version over the Ajaz version any day of the week! Ajax is great for somethings but it’s also the new “flash intro” most times it’s not even needed.. but it does have it’s place.

and yes strtotime is very nice :)

    http://merbunity.com/
this is community site for merb.

  5. Trevor Gau Says:

Does Javascript have a strtotime() equivalent? Where can you view the documentation for Javascript? The only reason I wanted to use AJAX was because I knew how to code it in PHP, but not in Javascript. AJAX would be the only way to link the two :)
